Linsly Middle School Students Learn About Oil and Gas Industry
From Linsly Middle School News:
Linsly is pleased to be the first West Virginia boarding school to host the Mobile Oilfield Learning Unit, also known as MOLU, for middle school students.
The MOLU is a traveling exhibition sponsored by Cabot Oil & Gas and run by the Oilfield Energy Center that teaches students about science, technology, and topics related to the oil and natural gas industry through hands-on, educational activities. Students in grades 5 through 8 from Linsly's private middle school had an adjusted schedule today to allow time to rotate through the MOLU modules, which were set up in the field house.
Students enjoyed the opportunity to explore exciting, interactive exhibits that exposed them to STEM-related activities pertaining to the oil and gas industry. Students spent time participating in the interactive modules in pairs and learning about topics related to the gas and oil industry such as the carbon cycle, water depth of offshore production facilities, equipment used by geologists, and even learned about careers that are prevalent in the oil and gas industry. The experience was a wonderful addition to our college preparatory curriculum.
Special thanks to Linsly parent and community member, Mr. George Stark, Director of External Affairs for Cabot Oil & Gas, for facilitating the MOLU program's visit to Linsly.
